    WHO

Hi, I’m Fee. Mum to two beautiful girls,

    special aunty to another.

Special aunty? Back in 2021, I carried and birthed a baby girl for two Dads, as a gestational surrogate. They used a donor egg from the World Egg Bank, so she is not biologically mine, but we share a very special bond, and I am so grateful to be part of her family.

Through this life changing experience, I realised I wanted more and felt a calling to help families during this wonderful life event. Although I've served in the RAAF since 2002, (now part-time) I decided to qualify as a doula.

I'm now able to fulfil my passion to support people during this incredible time of their lives. I encourage women and their partners to feel confident, knowledgeable and empowered to have an amazing birth experience!

    WHAT

    So what is a doula?

Doula (doo-lah) is a Greek word basically meaning "servant-woman".
We are trained, non-medical professionals who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to women and their families before, during and after childbirth, to facilitate the best possible birth experience.

Think of me as your Aunty, sister, or good friend. I'm there for you and will have your back always. I will present your options in words you understand and listen openly to any concerns or worries that you have. I will give you the pep talk you may need, or just a big hug! I will make you a cup of tea, cook you a meal, or help out in any other way you wish.

    WHERE

While I live in Raymond Terrace, I am happy to service anywhere up to a 50km radius from my home. I can come to your place or meet you somewhere (such as a cafe etc) for our three pre-natal appointments.

Whether you choose to birth at home, or in hospital, I will be there to support you during your labour and delivery of your baby.

I have helped couples at the John Hunter, and Maitland Hospitals, and am familiar with their staff, practices and policies. Likewise for the Newcastle Private Hospital, where I birthed my surro-bub!

    WHEN

After our initial, no obligation meet-up, if you feel a connection and want to hire me as your doula, I will see you and your family for three tailored appointments during your pregnancy, generally at 33, 35 & 37 weeks gestation.

We will cover all the topics you need, to ensure you feel fully prepared for the very best birthing experience.

I will be on call for you 24/7 for two weeks either side of your estimated due date, so you can call me anytime.
I will meet you at your home, or at the hospital once labour is established, and support you and your partner at
    the birth of your baby.

In the postnatal period, I will visit you at your home for another three sessions and provide that continuity of care in helping you navigate your new life with a newborn.

    HOW (much)

When you find out you're pregnant, you start buying things. For the baby, for the home, the car, the list is endless!

Some choose to enrol in group or private antenatal classes, Calmbirth, Hypnobirthing etc

Costs can add up quickly, so you may be wondering if you can really afford a doula on top of all this.

What would you pay for a personal trainer/life coach/ counsellor/nutritionist/cleaner? I'm a bit of all of those things. How do you put a value on personalised support, catered especially for you and your baby?

When you make an enquiry, I will outline a package of what I can offer. We will discuss your needs and expectations and together tailor a service specifically for YOU.

I value myself and my business and will invest wholeheartedly in your wellbeing.

    WHY

Not sure if you really need a doula? I get that. Some women ROCK pregnancy and labour, and have the confidence and experience to OWN it, not needing much extra support, other than their loving partner.

But you're here right? So if you're thinking you might just need a little bit of something more, why not reach out?

    Just to be clear:
I’m not there to replace your husband/partner/mother/MIL/sister/friend. I am there to help ALL of you. I will make sure all the people in your team feel informed, supported, empowered, and cared for. I will connect you together and hold that precious space

for you to enjoy the most special moments.

So do your research, ask around. Listen to positive birthing experiences and listen to negative ones too. Find families who used a doula and ask what they got out of it. Weigh up the cost, the value and meet with a few local doulas. Afterall, it's your baby, your body, and your choice.

Best of luck with your journey and I do hope to speak with you soon.
